Strip out auto-replies, spam, and PR blasts and you're left with ~15,500 real conversations — of which 2,401 are genuine product or subscription complaints. That bottom band is what this report is about.
Complaints by product
of all complaints are about the Birdie 3.0 or Birdie Plus — and they need completely different fixes.
Story 1 · Birdie Plus
846 complaints — 97% are billing disputes or app/activation failures, not the device. It peaked Sept–Nov 2025 as the product wound down. It's no longer sold, yet cards keep getting charged, so every cycle creates a refund demand.
Why do I keep getting charged $49.99 each month when the subscription price is $4.99?
I've tried for over 3 years to cancel this subscription and I cannot.
It renewed… but there's no longer an app or service for this. I'd like a refund.
Charged $93.77 for a Birdie I never received, plus monthly fees — you owe me $183.59.
Story 2 · Birdie 3.0
The alarm went off and sounded the entire 7-hour flight — nothing worked.
New batteries in, still nothing. Not safe if it dies when you need it.
Twelve-month trend
Birdie Plus (cyan) crests in fall '25; Birdie 3.0 (blue) spikes in spring '26; Birdie Box (purple) jumps on the May wrong-color surge.
Fulfillment
Wrong/missing-item complaints sit near 2% of the inbox most of the year — then jump hard when the warehouse mis-picks. The clearest case: Birdie Box wrong-color shipments spiked to 71 in a single month (May '26).
You sent an ugly coral when I ordered dusty rose. I am not pleased.
Ordered 3 Rose Gold Birdie Boxes, received 3 Cheetah ones.
The whole inbox
is auto-replies, spam, and outreach. The real workload is led by subscriptions and order/shipping logistics — both highly automatable.
In their words
One triggers at the slightest pull — the sides aren't joined properly at the seam.
My Birdie Disc fell off my bag the first time I wore it. It's gone now.
The light cover came off, exposing the chip. I'd like a warranty claim.
Out of the 3, only one actually worked. The others made a weak clicking noise.
Birdie Box on/off button is misaligned and won't slide — defective.
Placed June 17th, still hasn't shipped — these are graduation gifts I need this week.
What to do
Kills the #1 driver — ~3,500 billing tickets a year, nearly all avoidable.
Deflects the order-status + shipping cluster — ~14% of every ticket.
263 no-sound / battery complaints in one month points at a single bad run.
Wrong-color spikes (Box +71 in May) are the loudest one-off complaints.
The headline
Three problems generate the overwhelming majority of complaint volume — and all three are fixable.
