Story 1 · Birdie Plus

A discontinued subscription that still bills

846 complaints — 97% are billing disputes or app/activation failures, not the device. It peaked Sept–Nov 2025 as the product wound down. It's no longer sold, yet cards keep getting charged, so every cycle creates a refund demand.

Why do I keep getting charged $49.99 each month when the subscription price is $4.99?

— Ticket #340714

I've tried for over 3 years to cancel this subscription and I cannot.

— Ticket #340207

It renewed… but there's no longer an app or service for this. I'd like a refund.

— Ticket #341610

Charged $93.77 for a Birdie I never received, plus monthly fees — you owe me $183.59.

— Ticket #342160
The fix → self-serve cancellation + a clear refund policy would eliminate the single biggest ticket driver.

Story 2 · Birdie 3.0

The hardware: silence, breakage, and a spring spike

The alarm went off and sounded the entire 7-hour flight — nothing worked.

— Ticket #340232

New batteries in, still nothing. Not safe if it dies when you need it.

— Ticket #342083
Watch this → a no-sound + battery spike hit Feb–Mar 2026: 263 complaints in one month. Smells like a single bad production batch.

Wrong-color shipments: small baseline, brutal spikes

Wrong/missing-item complaints sit near 2% of the inbox most of the year — then jump hard when the warehouse mis-picks. The clearest case: Birdie Box wrong-color shipments spiked to 71 in a single month (May '26).

It's a pick-pack accuracy problem, not a product defect — and it's the loudest single complaint when it happens.

You sent an ugly coral when I ordered dusty rose. I am not pleased.

— Ticket #340530

Ordered 3 Rose Gold Birdie Boxes, received 3 Cheetah ones.

In their words

A wall of real tickets

One triggers at the slightest pull — the sides aren't joined properly at the seam.

— Ticket #342068

My Birdie Disc fell off my bag the first time I wore it. It's gone now.

— Ticket #340837

The light cover came off, exposing the chip. I'd like a warranty claim.

— Ticket #341499

Out of the 3, only one actually worked. The others made a weak clicking noise.

— Ticket #341957

Birdie Box on/off button is misaligned and won't slide — defective.

— Ticket #340163

Placed June 17th, still hasn't shipped — these are graduation gifts I need this week.

— Ticket #342211

What to do

Four moves, ranked by ticket volume they remove

1

Ship a self-serve Birdie Plus cancel + refund flow

Kills the #1 driver — ~3,500 billing tickets a year, nearly all avoidable.

2

Auto-send a proactive shipping-status email

Deflects the order-status + shipping cluster — ~14% of every ticket.

3

Quality-audit the Feb–Mar Birdie 3.0 batch

263 no-sound / battery complaints in one month points at a single bad run.

4

Tighten pick-pack color accuracy

Wrong-color spikes (Box +71 in May) are the loudest one-off complaints.

The headline

Fix the subscription, fix the
siren, fix the pick line.

Three problems generate the overwhelming majority of complaint volume — and all three are fixable.
